On the Wednesday before I left for maternity leave, the clinical department surprised me with a basket of wonderful baby gifts. I was so excited and overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity. I am very blessed to work with such sweet people. I had a drs appointment that afternoon. Can we say nightmare. Since we moved to VA, I have seen a nurse midwife. I saw her up until 36 weeks with this pregnancy. Their practice requires me to see an OBGYN for the last four weeks and delivery since I had a c-section with Mason. This was our first meeting with Dr. Wade and it was epic. She is very blunt and matter of fact, which is fine, but I need nurturing and kindness. She was very annoyed and vocal because when she entered the room, Will was on his phone. We discussed our concerns and asked questions. I had thought about tryingto deliver Deacon. After she examined me, she said she didn't think I woukd be able to have a VBAC. She was concerned about size and the fact that my labor never progressed with Mason, ESP since we knew D was probably going to be bigger. She was very abrupt and everytime Id ask will a question, she asked me why I was asking him because I was the one who had to make the choice. So we decided we would have a c-section and that I would schedule it next week. I left feeling ok because she was very knowledgable and answered my questions, but like I said I need nurturing lol. Later that night, I had dinner with my sweet friend Bronwen at VSquared. Her bday is the day after mine, which makes or friendship that much more special. That Friday, we went to Mason's school for some trick or treating. We also got to see his art work displayed at the school. Monday the 28th was my birthday and my last day at work. I had my last OB appointment that afternoon. We scheduled my surgery for November 5th at 2 (39 wks 1day). This appointment went much better. She was able to tell me that my cirvix or uturus or something was flat instead of arched and that I would have a hard time having a VBAC. I felt much better having my life in her hands, since she is a great doctor dry humor/abruptness and all. On the 30th Mason went to a trunk or treat event for the Boy Scouts with his friend Teddy. On Halloween night, we went trick or treating around our neighborhood with my friend Patty and her niece. Mason got a ton of candy and had a great time.
