Ledos Lunch

On April 5th, we went and had lunch at Ledos Pizza. Mason got a certificate at school for being an outstanding student. He got a free cheese pizza. We are so proud of him!!

Swim Lessons

My friend Kristen and I have signed up our boys for Mommy and Me Swim
Lessons. They are once a week for 30 mins. We love it! The boys have so much fun and so do we. After our first lesson, Kristen and I had lunch with Martha and Peggy from work at our house.  It was so nice to hang out outside of work and have them meet our boys. Will  was able to attend the 2nd lesson and watch.

Deacon is 5 months

Deacon is already 5 months old. He is starting to eat baby food. We've had peas, green beans, carrots, and bananas. This boy loves to eat. He also loves to laugh and loves his Mommy. He rolls over all the time and is trying really hard to sit up on his own. I am such a lucky, blessed woman!

Two Brothers, One Outfit

I saved a lot of Mason's clothes from when he was a baby. We have had a fun time dressing Deacon in them and comparing pictures!!

Hair cut

Also on 3/23 Mason decided to give himself a cut!! Yes. A hair cut. I just cried and cried. I felt so bad because he said some kids at school laughed at him. Lol he did say he learned his lesson and will never cut his hair again.
Of Course the only pic I have, his face is filthy!!

March Madness

We Love March Madness!! Filling out brackets, watching them crumble, and hanging out with friends makes for some great times!! On March 22, we had friends over and grilled out stuffed burgers!! So fun!

St. Patrick's Day and 4 Month Check Up

On March 17th Deacon had his 4 month check up. He weighed 14lbs and was 25 3/4 in long. He got 5 vaccines, 1 oral 2 shots. Of course, he hated it. Bless him.

Day 3 & 4 Baby trifecta, photo shoot, True Detective date night

Day 3 of our trip was very busy as well. We had our baby trifecta play date. It was so fun to see Deacon with other babies. It was also fun to catch up with Lydia and Andi. It's so fun that we have babies all the same age!

Later that afternoon, we had a mommy/baby photo shoot at the park. Brandy Roberts took such cute photos. Bless her and her sister Brooke for managing 3 babies!!!

Later that night, we took D to meet Will's aunt and uncle Christy and Joe and Claire. They are so special to us and we were so glad they got to meet Deacon.

We ended Sunday night with True Detective Date night at Price and Jennifer's. It is our favorite show and we were happy to be able to watch it with one of our favorite couples!

Monday was our last day in MS. We spent the morning taking Deacon to meet a few special people. I was very excited he got to meet Ms. Cathy Cossey. She is so special to me and I was very happy to get to spend some time with her. We also went to visit Ms. Betty Maclin and the Hudson's. After our visits, we ate at ElAgave for lunch. My friend Landon met us there! I was excited to see her. She is moving to NA so it was good to meet up and hear how my hometown was treating her!!

Day 2/Amanda Price 5k/10k

On Saturday March 8th, the reason for our trip, Will, Mason, and I participated in the Amanda Price Memorial 5k/10k. It was so nice to see so many friends and to ESP see my friends from Grad School. These girls are so special to me and I look forward to seeing them when I am home. After the race, I had lunch in Oxford with Jen, Lesley, and Sus. After lunch, my mom took me and my sister-in-law Leann shopping. It was very nice to get new clothes!! Later that afternoon Lydia came by with Nadily. I was so excited to finally meet her! We planned to have a play date the next day with Andi and Preslee. That night I met some girls from my high school class to discuss our family reunion. Afterwards, my family grilled out. It was nice to have our whole family plus my aunt and uncle. We had a bonfire and our neighbors came over also. What a day!!

March 8th also marked mine and Will's 12 year anniversary of when we started dating!! Wow 12 years!

Me and Chesley

Our Trip to Mississippi Day 1

We were very lucky to be able to take a trip home to MS the weekend of March 7-10. Deacon was so good on the plane! We did many many things while we were home. Friday night my BFF came over and we had dinner at Taylor's with my family. Will took the boys to see his family as well. My brother and sister in law came by and I finally got to meet my sweet niece! She is so precious. I love her so so much.

4 months old

It's so hard to believe Deacon is 4 months old. On 2/25 he started rolling over. He still doesn't sleep well and is up often at night, but it's getting somewhat better. A sweet friend of mine from work, Ms. Martha made baby D the most precious blanket. We love special gifts like this that we will keep forever.

Oscar Party Fun

On March 2nd, we had our friends Mark, Justin, and the Lloyd's over for an Ocscar party. We had movie themed foods and filled out score cards. We had a very fun night!

The boys were red carpet ready!

Valentine's Day 2014

We enjoyed a snowy Valentine's Day this year. We have had a lot of snow this winter. Mason missed school on the 13th and 14th. Of course, when he went back that Monday, I forgot about it being Valentine's Day. I'm sure he was the only kid in his class that didn't have Valentines to pass out!! I totally forgot and felt awful, but Mason didn't seem to care!

3 months old!

Sweet Deacon was 3 months old on Feb 4th. I can't believe how much he has grown and all the things he is doing!! He is such a sweet and happy baby!!Of course he hates to be alone and will cry when I am in the shower each morning. I can't imagine what we did before he came into our lives.

Super Bowl Sunday

We had our friends The Lloyd's and Jenkins over for Super Bowl Sunday. We made breakfast for dinner and had a great time considering the game was so boring.
Deacon loves him some Emily and Matt:)

Yes we used plates of the teams we like instead of the teams who actually played.

Man gowns, knit hats, leg warmers, and cloth diapers

I get a lot of negative feedback here for how I dress Deacon. I love love love man gowns. They are so warm and cozy and mark changing diapers at night easier.

We had a few people make us cute knit hats as gifts. D looks so sweet in them.

We have been using cloth diapers on the weekends. They are very easy to use and I like them way more than I thought I would. My sister in law LeAnn uses them and gave us some as a gift as well.

I also love leg warmers. They are so fun and cute. They are what I get most talk about. People up her don't like them. It's so weird to me how different fashions and clothing styles are here vs what they are in MS.

Rocket Club

My sweet Mason was selected in Nov/Dec for the Rocket Club. Rocket Club is a monthly recognition of students at Red Bud Elementary for various character traits. Each teacher picks a student each month. The kids get their picture on a board and have a ceremony to recognize them. This year it was for Being safe, respectful, and responsible. Last year, he was also selected for having good manners. Mason is such a good boy and he continues to do well in school, making As in math, spelling, and reading.

January 2014

2014 is keeping us very busy. I went back to work on January 6th. It was so hard going back after being home for 10 weeks! I am still full time at GIHN and do PRN for Aegis, Best Care, and Rehab Management. That seems like so much typing it! Glad none of them call on me much! I am looking forward to beginning to run again and maybe try to run a 10 K. I am looking forward to my traditional Color Run 5k in Sept and of course APs 5 K in March. I  am also planning to do my first ever mud run! This year is also my 15 year high school reunion so I have lots to keep me busy!!
Deacon is staying with Ms. Aisha Nixon. She kept Mason and we are very happy she is keeping D in her home. We didn't think daycare would be a good fit for us this time and were so happy she was available and willing to keep Deacon. As I said before,  Deacon went for his two month checkup on Jan 15th. It was pushed back from Jan 7th because of our flu nightmare and dr. visits. He weighed  11lbs and 14 oz, was 23.5 in long, with 15.5 in head circumference.  He had to get 3 shots (5 vaccines) which he absolutely hated!! Dr. Sledd explained to us that we were very lucky Deacon got the flu at 7 weeks and not 12 or 13 weeks because at 7 weeks he still had my antibodies in him. This kept him from being so ill. We also got the fabulous acid reflux diagnosis. Right now we are trying positional changes and gas drops. I'm not sure I'm ready for prescription meds!!
Mason went back to school on the 2nd but has missed many days this month because of the snow and extremely cold weather. Poppa DO and GiGi came to visit for MLK weekend and took him to the Baltimore Aquarium. They had a great time. Poor fella broke his glasses in gym and was so upset his teacher had to call me at work to speak to him. He fell one night while playing with my friends toddler and got a massive black eye!! Here's hoping it can only get better!! He got his report card for the 2nd 9 weeks and had As and Os in all his subjects except handwriting and Art. We are very proud of him.  .
Will started a new job this year. He is now working for Albany Industries which is based out of New Albany ( here's hoping this gets us closer to home one day). He has been very busy meeting new dealers, setting up new accounts, and traveling a bigger territory. He went to Las Vegas for a week! I honestly don't know how single moms do it!! I hope I never have to know either!! He is going to Tupelo Market in February for 4 days. Wish me luck.

Meeting Hardy

On January 5th, Deacon and I took a trip to Dulles Town Center and met Whitney and baby Hardy for some Cheesecake Factory and lunch. It was so much fun to meet her. She is so pretty and has so much hair!!

Happy New Year!

We celebrated the New Year at home with my parents. We ordered pizza and rang in the new year. The next day, since it was their last day with us and we were all feeling better, we went and ate at Bonefish Grill. It was a great way to end their trip. They left the next day and Mason went back to school. I enjoyed the last few days of my leave before I returned to work on 1/6/14.

Anniversary

On 12/29/13 Will and I celebrated our 9th year of marriage. Of course, we were stil sick from the flu and stayed home.

Flu

Of course it wouldn't be our life if we didn't all get the flu. It started with Will not feeling well. The next day we were all feeling awful, except my mom. My dad and Will had it the worst. Mason and I were sick for only a day. Mason had a flu shot so that helped him not be as sick. We had to take Deacon to the dr where he also tested positive for flu. Not fun to have a sick baby ESP a newborn. They were very concerned he could get RSV. Fortunately, He was only sick for about a day. The dr explained at his follow up on 1/2/14 that bc he still had my antibodies in him it protected him. He said a few weeks later and it could have made him really sick. He also weighed 11 pounds and 10 oz at this check up!

Christmas Break 2013

My parents came to stay with us over Christmas break. I was sad to not be in MS as I had all 32 other Christmas' of my life. No girls dinners, family gift exchanges, or anything. I was so lucky and grateful my parents came and spent almost 2 weeks with us. I felt selfish having them, ESP since my brother and sister in law just had a baby also. We had such a great time. We had dinner at our friends, the Lloyd's, cooked Christmas dinners, went out to eat and watched lots of football. They also watched the boys so I could work a few days at my home Heath and nursing home jobs. My poor mama wanted it to snow while they were here, but it waited until right after they left for that!  I was sad to see them leave, but look forward to seeing them in March and July.

Maternity Leave

I enjoyed being off from work for maternity leave! It was absolute heaven being home with Deacon. I wasn't off quite as much with Mason, so the time was very special to me. Will was able to stay home with us a good bit of time too. On Nov 8th we went to get bloodwork. Poor Deacon was so brave. We also went to some weigh in and check up appointments and I had lunch with Mason a few times. Other than that, we stayed home and relaxed.
